"Paul Levinson's It's Real Life is a page-turning exploration into that multiverse known as rock and roll. But it is much more than a marvelous adventure narrated by a master storyteller...it is also an exquisite meditation on the very nature of alternate history." -- Jack Dann, The Fiction Writer's Guide to Alternate History

Superbad YouTube

Today - August 1, 2007 - that's literally true: YouTube is Superbad...

As in the movie, opening in theaters August 17, from the guy who brought you The 40 Year Old Virgin...

A little perspective: YouTube has been in the news lately, and here in Infinite Regress, too, as the revolutionary post-television medium that is democratizing the Presidential debates and indeed the whole election by bringing the world the Obama Girl and Hillary Sopranos videos, to name just two.

But that's not the only way YouTube is revolutionary. It is also changing the nature of movie trailers and how they tell the world about new film productions. Once upon a time, the only place you could see a trailer was in the movie theater, itself. With the rise of television, you could also see trailers as commercials between television shows.

But now you can see trailers on YouTube, too - and I bet this will be the way more and more people find out about movies. Today, August 1, for example, YouTube will be showing five hilarious trailers from Superbad - it's a Superbad YouTube takeover, with five Superbad trailers on YouTube's front page.

And as befits the Web, there's of course much more on the Superbad web site. Not only the five clips, but a trailer, TV spots, widgets, wallpaper, screensavers, links to MySpace and Facebook, the whole enchilada.

Superbad ... no, super good to see movies joining the YouTube revolution.
