"Paul Levinson's It's Real Life is a page-turning exploration into that multiverse known as rock and roll. But it is much more than a marvelous adventure narrated by a master storyteller...it is also an exquisite meditation on the very nature of alternate history." -- Jack Dann, The Fiction Writer's Guide to Alternate History

Palin's Punking Is Not Just Hilarious, It's Frightening

The following is so funny as to be, in this context, really frightening. As the Canadian Press reported -

A Quebec comedy duo notorious for prank calls to celebrities and heads of state has reached Sarah Palin, convincing the Republican vice-presidential nominee she was speaking with French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

The comedy team - The Masked Avengers, consisting of Sebastien Trudel and Marc-Antoine Audette - have pulled similar pranks on other celebrities.

But this one was pulled on a candidate for Vice President of United States, in an election which will be completed this Tuesday. Palin not only is clueless - she is ridiculous, embarrassing. Pathetic is not too strong a word. Which is why this is so frightening.

Listen to Palin's response about whether Joe the Plumber is her "husband". Or about how she giggles when the faux Sarkozy says his wife was "jealous" when he told her he would be talking to Palin, or about how she reacts when "Sarkozy" says he would love to go hunting with her ...

And, think ... this woman could be a heartbeat away from being President.

Are you at all complacent, or inclined not to care too much who wins the election?

Listen to this tape, Parts 1 and 2, and see if you still feel that way...

Paul: I have three words for you -- clueless in Wasilla. How did these characters get thru Palin's crack staff of media handlers? Obviously Palin is not skilled enough to sitdown for a phone conversation with a suppossed head of state without "pre-conditions." That is quite an organizational juggernaut that Palin has established around her newfound political celebrity.

I'm afraid that the Bush sickness of pallin' around with incompetents is spreading throughout the GOP body politic. McCain was inflicted with the disease as he organized his campaign with former Bush & Rove operatives and lobbyists. His campaign has been running on fumes almost from the start ... no real message, no traction with real Americans with actual last names who are not identified by their professions. McCain overtaken by the Bush Bug selected an unvetted obscure governor for Vice President. And Sister Sarah is obviously bringing along a Northern Exposure strain of the incompetence virus down to the Lower 48.

With an Obama landslide on Nov. 4 the Democrats have the antidote to fight this Bush viral sickness of bad governance. Let's get America healthy again -- see you all at the polls on Tuesday ....
